Our Team

For inquiries about weddings or staying at the ranch house, we would love to hear from you! 

We are close enough to town to be convenient, while far enough out to be secluded. We're located in the Elkhorn Mountains southeast of Helena. We're on the top of the McClellan Creek Road loop that connects Montana City and East Helena. Download a direction sheet here. If you're coming for a wedding, give yourself 30 minutes to get here from town.

Formerly known as the Gustafson Ranch, the 4-R Ranch has been in our family since 1917. Tom Russ, the current owner, grew up helping his Uncle Ray and Aunt Kay with all things ranch related. He and his wife Patti moved here in 1987, the year before the great “Warm Springs Creek Fire”. The 4-R brand originated from the four Russ's: Tom, Patti, Timm and Cassidy. 


 In 2011, Cassidy Russ and Chase Cunningham were the first couple to get married at the 4-R Ranch. That event inspired us to transform parts of our cattle operation into a rustic mountain sanctuary. It was simply too amazing to not to share with everyone. In addition to being a beautiful and unique wedding venue, the 4-R Ranch is still home to a herd of Red Angus cattle and is a Block Management, hunting access partner with the State of Montana.
